Multi-material printing on the Bambu is great until you want to do it your own way. So I’m building my own MMU — open source — to see how far a home-designed filament changer can go.
Build log
The design runs four filament paths through push-fit couplers, with a single stepper on the end driving the selection. Each path gets its own lever so the machine can grab and release filament without a motor per channel — fewer parts, less to go wrong.
This one is very much work in progress. Right now it’s CAD and printed prototypes; the interesting failures (and the open-source files) come next.
